Description: This project is from our Ottawa chapter in the Central Region. Our clients for this project are the children at the CHEO school. They were working apart from one another since their various wheelchair and mobility devices required specific and differing table heights. The students wanted to work together, so they asked Tetra to create a communal table with sections of different heights. The initial design, with pie-shaped sections, would limit the full entry of wheelchairs, so the volunteer took the approach of a central vertical column that would permit the table parts to go up and down and leave space beneath. The sections were also equipped with side skirts to keep objects like Legos from falling off. The final unique device has been warmly received and gives the children the pleasure of being together as they complete their tasks and play while still leaving space for people to assist them as needed. If you think this project and video should win TetraNation 2024 for the Central Region, vote now!
