Sometimes the simplest solutions have the greatest impact – raised sticker makes a microwave accessible.
Tetra Prince George Chapter coordinator Nadine Lindstrom was initially contacted by Bobby Tom, 65, who has been legally blind since he was injured falling from a moving pick-up truck as a young man. Living by himself, Bobby needed help operating a microwave.
Tetra volunteer Bruce Cox came up with a creative solution – he painted and stuck a button into the centre of the microwave key pad. “The button and the paint came from the dollar store,” said Nadine. “It was a simple project, but it allows him to operate his microwave. I think it’s a great solution. I wish I was as creative as the volunteers!”
Tetra solutions can range from a simple adaptation to a unique innovative device.
