Hamilton-Halton Chapter

We have produced a brochure to explain what our chapter does, how it may help you and how you could get involved.

The City of Burlington, Ontario, recognized the Hamilton-Halton chapter among its 2015 “champions of accessibility.” Longtime Tetra volunteer Gus Baliko received an award for the 40-plus projects he’s completed for people with disabilities throughout the area.

The city’s Accessibility Awards program recognizes those “significant contributions to increase access and participation of people with disabilities in our community.”

Watch this video description of a project completed by the Hamilton-Halton chapter that allows young people with high-level disabilities to play boccia:

“With this new ramp, thanks to the Tetra Society and their mighty volunteers, watch out as the Brock Niagara Penguins Boccia players will be a team to reckon with!”

Letter of thanks from the Brock Niagara Penguins

We attended the 2014 Halton showcase in April to showcase Tetra’s Hamilton Halton chapter.

The event was a great success, with more than 150 vendors, including March of Dimes, Seniors Helping Seniors and the MS Society-Halton Chapter.

Dr. Frank Hayden, founder of the Special Olympics, cut the ribbon to open the show (pictured).

We made many new connections within the community and received requests for six new projects: attaching hockey sticks to a wheelchair, a lightweight paint brush for a 10 year old boy, a highchair for a teenager, a bed enclosure for a twin bed, mount an iPhone to a wheelchair and another Bocce Ball ramp!

Back in 2013, Mike McNally was recognized for eight years volunteering for the Hamilton/Halton Tetra chapter by the City of Burlington. This recognition came from Burlington’s Accessibility Advisory Committee
