Introduce yourself

Postby admin » Wed Jul 08, 2009 9:29 pm

As I said over in Sharing solutions, welcome to the new Tetra forum. Please feel free to intruduce yourself and/or your chapter (or to ask questions of your local chapter, if you are not part of the organizaiton), either in this thread or by starting your own.

To repeat myself (I do a lot of that) a forum is a very new area for us, and the whole site remains a work in progress - particularly the Tetra Devices database.

Some of the volunteers know who I am. For those who don't, my name is Matthew Wild, and I handle communications for the Disability Foundation, of which Tetra is one of six affiliated societies. For a time I was national program coordinator for the Tetra Society, but I was moved into a more general communications role. . . I'm an ex-journalist, and much better at the media side of things than coordinating anything. I'm very close to Tetra - it's something I really, really believe in.

Hi Mathew,

Not sure where to post this.

We're renovating the bathroom to make it w/c friendly and want to use expandable door hinges. We can order them from the states for a gazillion $, but can't find them in BC. Any ideas?

Thank you

Hello all, I had created some devices to add onto a scooter chair. Someone told me of Tetra, and here I am. So, I wonder if there is a means to share the solution I came up with to others who may face a similar problem? A man with a heart pacemaker caused him to retain water, and he became quite huge. Now the re-wiring of the pacemaker has helped him, but he still carries a very large belly of fluid
buildup. I fabricated some add on parts to his scooter to relieve the overwhelming load on his body. He claims that it helps a lot.
I would like to share my solution for others if it could help them too. Also, I am curious if anyone has a solution to the mobility problem this man faces. He has a belly of aprox. 100 pounds of fluid which has streatched down past his knees when standing. He needs support to wear when he walks, obviously to attach to his body. Does anyone have knowledge of such a thing? Also, how do the solution holders get in touch with me? Is there a way to submit drawings of my solution for this mans case? To see drawings of other peoples solutions, etc.?

Hi. I am new to this site. My sister-in-law is a little person, (hair and cartilage). She lives in the Scarborough area of Toronto. She is well past 60 now and is having serious mobility issues. She will most likely be requiring knee replacement (s). Is there a way she could get a special wheelchair (she is three foot three) that could be loaned or bought for something other than a King's ransom?
